Many of those who resist putting genuine effort into the process simultaneously complain about certain conditions that could have been pre-empted by effective Strategic Planning.
Too many of us take action then wait for the consequences. That is risky business. What if those consequences aren’t acceptable? What if it turns out we would have preferred an alternative? Fixing unacceptable consequences that could have been pre-empted with effective planning and critical thinking is time-consuming.
Effective Leaders - that is Adults - first determine what consequences (I like to call them, ‘results’ or ‘success indicators’) are desired. Then and only then do they take appropriate courses of action to get there.
So, given that effective Leaders - that is Adults - understand and accept that we choose our consequences, we might ask ourselves of our future repercussions, “What doncha want?”
By the way, this is one of the best scenes in any movie … ever …
